Guest Report post Posted February 12, 2004 Nice fly, Tube It looks somewhat like that Woodchuck streamer. I've made a few attempts at it, but the 'chuck sure has some dense fur. When the underfur is secure, the guardhairs are still loose and want to pull out. I'll have to try glueing it first and then spinning the hackle. I sure like that look
Guest Report post Posted February 13, 2004 That's gray squirrel tail on the wing, ain't it? You tyin those for the Smallies this summer, or ya gonna waste it on a damn ol' GL Steelhead
uncletube 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2004 Shoe , try removing the underfur and just use the gaurd hair and a stacker or try making a loop around the base of the hair wing with the thread and use a drop of head laquer, this makes a more durable wing. Remember the tighter the tie the better. Yuppers wrench that be good ol' Callaway county tree rat for the wing ,I never thought of using an Atlantic salmon pattern for bronze backs . Tight lines, drag free drifts always, Tube
