James Daly 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 Greetings all, I had been batting around the idea of getting a tube tool for a while. Well, after seeing John's waddingtons and Damian's tubes (plus all the other great tube flies in the forum), I took the opportunity to visit a local shop. I really want to tie the HiTie style, but wanted to do something familiar for my first attempt. Here's a ridiculously big Akroyd. I shoul have cut the tube in half. LOL! Anyways, I'm gonna fish this, but I think I will scare instead of catch the fish. For your critiques and amusement. -Jamie

Is it an all plastic tube? It looks so. regards Jens PS. There is no such thing as a ridiculously big Akroyd

Frank G. Swarner III 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2008 Awesome Jamie!! I guess your allowed to use double hooks in Erie? It's not too big at all. You'll be surprised how hard the take will be....we'll maybe not in 30 degree water....but you know what I mean. Frank

James Daly 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2008 Thanks for the kind words all! I appreciate it! Jens, Yes it is an all plastic tube. I wasn't thinking about the sink factor when I tied this. I guess I will fish it like a bomber, in the surface film. Or I use some split shot, I guess. Frank, Doubles and triples are permitted. I just dug up an old box of Mustad doubles and figured they played the part. I'm not sure I will actually fish it with a double. I like the holding power of a single. I've got some Owner hooks that will fit the bill. Thanks again, all! -Jamie
