letumgo 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Lovely pattern, Mark! I bet this fly looks amazing in the water. Tons of motion & great color combination. Definitely a winner. Thanks for sharing.
JJD 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Mark, It is a very nice looking pattern and I really like the subtle colors. The saddles look fairly thin. Are these similar to the type of saddles that you might use for a flatwing? John
Mark Gustavson 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Actually, I use a med. wide saddle for this pattern to give it a little more body. But there are uses for wider saddles on flatwings especially for saddles that are on top. Here is an image of the saddles used in this fly from a step-by step:

Frank G. Swarner III 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 Awesome Mark......I have to check this journal more often.......Why do you always post steelhead flies here? Just joking...teehee hee I was just tying some smaller flatwings for steelhead in colors very similar. Great minds think alike.....they just fish for differnet species  Frank
Mark Gustavson 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2008 Thanks. Here's some more steelhead flies from lately. Steelhead have seven stripes, right?
Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2008 7 stripes, LOL!! Great looking flies, I am going to put a few in my box, thanks for sharring. I heard that if the lines have a break or are distorted the fish are hybrids. Think there is any truth to this, or its just that every fish is differnt?
