Onshore 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2005 Nice, Sean. Tie it in White, Pale Green, etc. and you've got a fine fly for the Cape's monster Sandeels
Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2005 QUOTE (Dble Haul @ Feb 1 2005, 11:44 AM) This fly and a black flatwing are pretty much the only two flies I use during my night fishing. Good stuff. I know how to tie a flatwing but have never heard of a black one, could you help me out with this one? I like the Idea of only using a few flies. I am new to saltwater fly fishing, mainly Stripers. I have tied a few black Lefty deceivers, the mentioned flys would round out a "night time box" nicely. Have I mentioned how this place rocks!!!! Dble Haul 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 A black flatwing is just what the name implies. Since you already know how to tie them, just make sure that your ingredients (bucktail, hackle, flash, etc.) are black.

Dble Haul 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 I usually use flat silver tinsel for the body so that any available moonlight will catch it. It's a sublte kind of flash at night when under the cloak of bucktail, and one that seems to work well.
