Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2005 Cool flies, how many plumes of marabou do you use?
Sean Juan 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2005 In that fly just one. Kept a healthy space with each wrap so the feather have a chance to breathe.
Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2005 I tried something simmilar, Black hackles and Krystal flash strands, 1/2 body, pearlesent body braid, one plume white and one plume olive marabou. a few strands of red krystal flash for a throat and a clump of black foxtail for the top wing, tied short. I was looking at these flies thinking that a slim grizzly saddle on each side, would complement them well. Do you think it would tangle in the marabou? Sean Juan 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2005 it wouldn't tangle per se but it would compress and reduce the overall profile - fine for a thinner baitfish - with this pattern I was trying to maximize the profile of a deceiver without having to resort to the traditional Hi -Lo bunches of buctail up the shank. Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2005 Thats good info, I am new to salt water fly fishing and am very interested as I plan alot of time this summer. I think these flies are great and have many questions? Probaly too many but "if you dont cry you cant be heard".
