Missing Link Caddis (variation) SBS

Found this traditionally-hackled version (as opposed to the standard Tilt-wing) on Planettrout’s site (scroll down about 1/3 the way).  Added the egg sac in honor of the upcoming Mother’s Day; this one’s about ready to drop.

hook - WFC Model 3 #12
thread - Danville 6/0 olive
egg sac - dubbing chartreuse
rib - Midge Flash pearl
abdomen - tying thread
thorax - peacock herl
underwing - Congo Hair baitfish tan
wing - deer hair
hackle - dun grizzly


Start thread at 3/4 mark, wrap to bend

Tie in rib; wrap to 3/4 mark, tie off/tim, brush with Sally

Tie in peacock herl; wrap thorax, tie off/trim

Tie in CH; spread with cross wraps

Clean, stack, measure (tips past bend) a clump of deer hair; tie in, take a few wraps thru the butts to lock the wing in, wrap back to thorax

Wrap hackle, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN
