SBPatt 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2017 A U.K. fish fry pattern. hook - Mustad 9671 #6 thread - Danville 6/0 black tail - mallard flank over orange/green hackle fibers rib - tinsel silver (oval tinsel optional) body - chenille white hackle - orange/green throat - mallard flank wing - marabou white/grey squirrel mash barb, start thread strip off/mix orange and green hackle fibers, measure (gap width past bend), tie in tie some mallard flank over top of the hackle fibers tie in tinsel strip end off chenille, tie in, wrap to within 1 eye width; tie off/trim rib with tinsel; tie off/trim tie in (folded) hackles by tip; wrap simultaneously, tie off/trim stroke fibers down/back, cover with thread trim out center of mallard flank, tie in (DeFeo Style) throat, tips even with hackle; tie off/trim measure (tips to tail) a pair of marabou feathers (stroking them with moistened fingers helps control flyaway fibers); tie in/trim measure (tips a bit short of the wing) some squirrel tail; tie in (a dose of Sally helps keep it in place as you wrap)/trim whip finish, SHHAN Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
