SBPatt 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2018 These bugs are pretty much anywhere there are spruce trees in the parts of Montana I've been fishing lately, and the fish are interested. Size varied between #10-12 but the bigger fly was easier to see and floated better; your choice. Playing around with the "tungsten" setting on the camera so everything has a bit of a bluish cast to it; don't think I'll do it again. hook Dai Riki 320 #10 thread - UTC 140 tan abdomen - dubbing light tan loop - UTC 140 tan hackle - grizzly (undersize by 1) wing/head - deer hair bleached Mash barb, start thread, tie in loop at 2/3 mark (facing forward over eye) and wrap to bend Dub thread/dub body Tie in hackle, hook loop onto gallows Add a bit more dubbing up front Wrap hackle up (thorax width - distance to eye) and back down; tie off at base of loop/trim Stroke hackle fibers back Measure (hook length) a clump of deer hair Trim, tie in with 2 soft loops Let it spin Pull the hackle thru the deer hair; tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN Trim hair out underneath Go find some fish Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
