045 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2004 I am looking for an easy to read and understand book on aquatic entomology using fishing terms instead of scientific terms. Any suggestions? Also where can I buy hatch charts? Is there a comprehensive volume for the US? Thanks for any respnces.
Andrew 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 The Orvis Pocket Guide Series is pretty good. I have one dealing with mayflies, stoneflies, and caddis and one dealing only with caddis. Dick Probst (sic?), I believe, authored both of them. They both contain nice photos and detailed lifecyle information. Andrew
nightfish 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2004 Best source for hatch charts is right under your fingertips. Do a search for the water you want info on, & there's most likely a flyshop or bulletin board that has something on record. Man...a nationwide hatch chart reference book...there's a goldmine project! I'm planning on integrating something like that into my site next summer. It's just going to be a side effect of a much larger and more interesting database.
