SBPatt 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2015 Got the idea for this Rogue variation from a pic over on Westfly; thanks Chad. Lots of steps here but, again, pretty simple to tie and although I love bulletheads, this should be a bit more durable; change colors to suit your needs. hook - Dai Riki 280 #8 thread - UTC 140 tan body - 2mm foam rear feelers - rubber medium tan barred underwing - landscape fabric wing - elk hair thorax - Ice Dub golden brown front legs - rubber medium tan barred indicator - 2mm foam Insert needle in vise fold a strip of foam (hook gap width), push it onto needle start tying thread on needle fold foam over needle, adjust to where you want the first segment wrap thread around foam, pull slowly but firmly so you don't cut the foam and add a couple more wraps trim butt at an angle tie in feelers, "split the uprights", and create second segment repeat twice, then tie off; slide off the needle and SHHAN the wraps insert hook in vise; poke a hole in the foam and push onto eye of hook (trim the bottom portion but keep the top long) start thread on hook and wrap back to 50 % mark (not sure if I like the thorax this big; may shorten it up a bit) tie in 2mm x 2mm binder strip and apply Super Glue; optional, but it really helps anchor the foam body on the hook tie down body and wrap forward to hook eye prepare underwing (hook gap width) and tie in; extend back to butt of fly clean & stack a clump of elk hair and tie in dub thread/dub thorax; finish at the eye fold foam over, extending past eye and tie down return thread to back of thorax and tie down foam tie in legs trim foam and taper end tie in indicator, whip finish, SHHAN taper head and you're done Regards, Scott
