  1. Thanks; it seems to be working a bit better now. I suppose I was trying to be a little too conservative in the amount I stripped off of the feather. I appreciate the friendly advice.
  2. I am new to tying, like others here. I am trying a Bi-Visible. The hackles seem to break and split at the base where I start to wrap them around the hook. The diameter of a hook shaft is pretty tight, so it seems the stiff feather shaft might be too brittle for this tight a turn. I am wondering if I am using the right hackle for this purpose. I am using some necks from Howard Hackle. The book I am using says to use 'Cock Hackles'. Are these the same thing? Should I be using saddle hackle, which seems to be longer and more flexible? I am trying to get a good understanding of the materials. Thanks in advance for your help.
