It's a good beginner DSLR camera. Have fun!

Very nice guys! At least the snow is melting here in MI. It's almost gone where I am.

Hey Neil.
Like Mokai said, a ND filter will help in getting milky water shots. Also, as Graham would say, the histogram would be your best friend. Use that to judge whether your picture will be blown out or not.
-
Jim, by the way, a beautiful picture! What program did you use to stitch it?
-
27.5 feet wide!!!!

Nice pics Matt...you're winter is still better than mine, I haven't landed a steelhead in over 12 months.
-
Very nice...not many hummingbirds pass through this part of MI. I manage to see a couple evey year in my yard.
-
Nice photos Jim! What program did you use to stitch up that pano?

Nice pictures Andrew! Especially the last one!
Looking forward to seeing yours, John!
I'm glad everyone enjoyed the eclipse. Next one is December of 2010.

Bad luck here too...Clear skies, and a beautiful view, but I misplaced my CD with the AutoStarSuite software. I work solely from laptops, and the one with the CCD camera software crashed a couple months ago. I never got around to installing it in this laptop...
Oh well, I got some nice views through the scope though. Hopefully some of you guys are getting shots. Maybe it will turn turquoise for us!

Haze does play a part. In the summer, images through the scope are a lot less clear than those in the winter. The warmer the air, the softer the image.

Nice photo Andrew! Really beautiful!

Handheld John?!?!?
WTF, you must have hands of steel! Especially at 560mm! How did you get that? 400mm+teleconverter?
-
You'll get a lot of cool things like that in winter. Moon halos are caused by ice crystals in the air.
A moon halo from 2 winters ago. Taken on my point and shoot:
Put together in paint

My bad, my telescope is a LXD-55...
Here it is:
This black thing is the Meade DSI CCD Camera. It links to a computer to control it and view.
It goes directly on the eyepiece recepticle. I also have 3 barlow lenses and a teleconverter which it can go on.

I love that two-tone amboyna insert!
What are the specs on your rod? Is there anything in particular you want to go after in the Glades?
Where are you staying? Flamingo?
