  1. Stony, I not sure you want me in this swap. After looking at the pattern types I see a lot of trout or cold water flies I have never tied.Although I could probably tie a passing grade fly ,not having held one or fished one before could leave you guys with flies that are well tied and well intended but useless.I would rather you give my spot to a cold water angler that might have more to contribute. However if you can not find a replacement I will uphold my obligation to the best of my ability.

    Thanks, Fred

  2. Juice, A grass shrimp is a small fresh water shrimp that lives in most states that border the Gulf of Mexico. Most that are found are between 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches. They are mostly clear or slitly moldeled with brown specks and the females in spring carry a chartruse clutch of eggs under their tail. The best pattern I have seen so far is a scaled down version of a Popovics shrimp. Which is made with ultra hair and epoxy. Grass shrimp are a most effective natural bait for bluegill bass and crappie.

  3. Welcome, this is not the best place to ask .this is the flyswap and contest forum. You will get more imformation in the fly tying section of this site. But I get my body material from craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Its called craft foam. It comes in different thickness and a rainbow of colors.

  4. I can't nail down exactly why I enjoy swaps so much.I have seen a huge improvement in my tying skills since I started. I learned from others how to tweek a pattern and make it better. And I don't worry about getting a sub par fly from another tyer, because I know he learned from this swap and will be better for the next one. I get excited every time I enter a swap. And getting thoose flies is like X-Mas come early.
