  1. I've been tying some bass flys for my neighbor who walks my dog during the week. I wanted to give him a nice variety so I was searchin the web for ideas and concocted a few hybrids. His warmwater fly present will include both furry foam and turkey feather clouser crawfish, some humbugs, two interesting worms (a Ramsey estaz worm in purple) and one made the same as the ramsey but made from brown antron yarn. I also made a nice frog popper that I tied from several recipes and with the materials I had on hand. A couple of weeks ago I was experiementing with jointed flys and made some interesting specimens. A member of my kayak club turned me on to a fly called a "cat's whisker" that I've taken both native browns and small mouths on the Little J and Frankstown branch of the Juniata River during the cicada hatch in June. Good little fly which is essentially a wooly bugger type with fox fur tail and belly and a crystal flash dorsal(beard). It floats point up due to the bead chain or barbell eyes used. First post so when I figure out the site and upload procedures I will post some pics. Been tying since my wife bought me the vise at christmas 2007. I don't know if she regrets it due to my materials expense, but I really think that she is happy as she doesn't see me as much anymore.
