I use a Renzetti Traveler vise. When I'm around the house and moving from place to place, I generally use the C-Clamp i bought separately, but when i sit down at one spot for awhile and tie (like when I'm looking at the Pattern Database here) i use the pedestal, because I won't have to unscrew it everytime i need the space.

Well, I'm pretty new at this, but usually when i tie patterns that i need to sink (and retain a sleek figure) i use ultra-wire (I think that's the name). Because the UW is thin, it might take two layers to make it heavy enough for certain patterns, but it still stays thin. But now that i think about it, it seems like a waste of wire
Or you can use adhesive lead. I've seen that in a couple patterns, but I'm not sure how available it is.
Hope I've been of some help.

I just recently started fly-tying (perhaps about three months ago), and i use a Plano box to hold the few flies i've tied.
Heres a picture of the box...

Boy, Shark, i've been reading some of your chub stories in the Warmwater section, and have seen a bunch of your flies you tied for the Fly Database, and one word can sum up my reaction : AMAZING. Those flies look like they've really done wonders for you. I'm going to tie up some if these, i can only hope i have as much luck as you.
