  1. Thanks everyone! What I thought would be a quiet Bday on a Monday quickly changed when the kids had a snow day! :help: I had a wonderful day and John got me an Ipod to listen to when I go running. I can't believe it wasn't something fishing related!!!! :ripped: ;)

  2. Some great suggestions. One thing I used to do for our kids (and still do every now and then with our youngest) is do a search on turkey, rabbit, and squirrel prints and print some. Then I get them situated at the kitchen table with some elmers, feathers, and fur, etc. They have a riot decorating their animals while I sit and tie and enjoy watching them make some cool creations.

  3. That's a great video. We ice fish a lot and it offered many small tips that could really make a difference if you go through. I have gone through and was luckily in water chest high and made it out rather quickly. I learned a ton from that experience, especially about ice conditions. There was nice clear black ice but I walked over to an area that had honeycombed since the sun had reflected off of the metal on the docks and sea wall and weakened the ice.

  4. The antlers are part of a lamp that sits on my tying desk. A guy we know made the lamp out of antlers from his own buck which makes it extra special to me.

Here's a link to the fly. It has worked great for trout in Michigan and Arkansas, and apparently steelhead in PA. wink.gif I generally like to use a copper beadhead but was out when I felt like tying some up. I bet a conehead would would look beautiful! wink.gif

  5. Tim, yeah it was kind of expensive. For our honeymoon, we had driven North 3 hours for a long weekend since we were young and broke. The 10 yr trip was something that we didn't mind spending some money on.

I'll find out from John approximately how long the drive was. I just sat in the passenger seat and yapped the entire drive, so I'm not sure. wink.gif

Lots of great choices being posted. smile.gif
