Scissors. The kids always seem to borrow them for a school project.

QUOTE (Fishigan @ Jan 9 2005, 11:21 AM) Not a big fan of lobster but I can't see going to Maine and not having lobster.
We thought the same thing and had an awesome lobster dinner inbetween stays.

We fished in Maine a few years ago for our 10 year anniversary trip. We traveled through Canada also, it was a nice drive.
In Maine, we got a remote outpost cabin where the Aroostook River and Mouseleuk Stream met in the North Maine woods. We had to drive through some pretty rough and remote logging roads (1 ruined tire and another flat) to get to the main Libby camp to check in. From there, it took us 2 1/2 hrs to go 12 miles to our camp. Our GPS was my best friend at this point.
The cabin was EXTREMELY rustic and remote and the scenery was breath taking. The mosquitos were unbelievable. Tons and tons of rivers and ponds to chose from to go fishing.
From there, we drove on to New Brunswick to fish the Miramichi. If you're looking for remote and want some more info, let me know.
Sounds like a really fun area to investigate.

Our soon to be 6 year old has been tying with me this afternoon. We got him a basic one for Christmas since he likes to tie so much. We figured a simple one would be easier for him.
Well, he asked me if we could trade since he likes my rotary a lot more.

Thought of something else. My portable workstation is wood and so is the desk where I do the majority of my tying. Well, the station slides all over. I got a piece of that spongy shelf liner and set it under my station and no more sliding. Really simple fix but very aggrevating with out.

Santa brought the kids and the other half lots of outdoors stuff. Santa brought me a fly tying materials maker, otherwise known as a marlin .22.

My beads arrived a few days ago and I've had some fun and some frustration working with them.
I've been working on some ice flies (Dang weather). They're a pain to get on the hook, to say the least. I resorted to using a dry fly, size 12 and slipping it over the eye and tying them so they won't slip off. Then I've weighted them different ways. On a good note, they are really cool and glow like mad! Can't wait to try them. Now, it's time to tie some trout nymphs!

Merry Christmas! Wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday season! We'll be enjoying a very white Christmas here in SE Michigan.

Our friend left MI for Florida yesterday just after noon. I talked to him at 7:00 pm and he was still in Ohio, cruising at about 30 mph in some nasty weather.
I'd guess we got about 8-10" around here. It's kinda hard to judge since it's blown around so much. There's a two track down our road through the drifts. The sky is perfectly clear out now with the moon lighting up the scenery. It's actually very beautiful. Good night to get out the telescope!
Shoe, hope you guys have a safe drive down and are greeted with some balmy weather. We'll be thinking of you guys as we sit in our shanty on a slab of ice.

I ordered them from Lakeland, Inc. www.lakelandinc.com I haven't seen them anywhere else that sells tying materials but I wasn't looking for them either. I'm anxious to get them and try them out.

I ordered some today thinking they would be interesting to incorporate in some nymphs. I'll try out some ice fishing patterns with them also. Anyone ever try them?

I like the plastic viles that came with mine to keep beads handy and contained that I am using. There is also a drilled out spot that is filled with a sponge to dampen fingers that is pretty handy. Oh yeah, MAGNETIC STRIPS!!!!!

Very nice! I bet some of those torn up a bit would work well in Arkansas in Jan or Feb.

“Honey, do these waders make me look fat?”There may be a couple of answers to that one but only one "safe" answer.

Nice! Very realistic looking.

I tied some of those up in the spring and they did NOT turn out like that, lol. Thanks for the inspiration to improve on mine.

Tangled up flyline on floor of boat?

Don't ask me how, but I managed to get my fly line wrapped in the swivel seat in the front of Shoe's driftboat this summer. Really wrapped, like in the grease by the bearings wrapped. What a mess, lol.
