That is an awesome idea!!!! Lets see if we can get that pulled together. You know I was told by a salesman at cabellas to get hooks from K-Mart. Is this a normal practice? And what do you buy cause there not "fly tying" hooks. The don't really list the size from what I have seen either. So if you do buy from K-Mart or WalMart or something like that, what do you buy?

This is great advice. I emailed a couple of local taxidermy shops around my area and one of them emailed me back an offered me to come in any time and take what I want out of his scrap bucket. I offered to trade some fly's for it and he agreed although he doesn't fly fish so he doesn't even want anything much. Nice guy too. I haven't gone yet because he will be busy till after 11-5 but when I do I post what I get out of the deal.

I love birds. I used to have an african gray parrot that was stollen from durring a move from one house to another. We left him overnight at the old house while the new house was being spraid for bugs and in the night the old was broke into and he was stollen. Do you have any pics of your birds? I would love to see wha they look like.

Welcome to the forumn. I don't have any advice for you at all. But I envy you being able to fish such an exotic place. How great is that. Good luck and post lots of pics.

I do fly fish but there is no way I will ever fish all of the flies that I tye. I am like you and I do it to relax after a hard day I love tying more than fishing. That could be because I have neropothy in my feet and cannot stand all that long. I want to get a kick boat but just can't afford it. So for now I will have way more fly's than I will ever fish. And, I am ok with that.

Just a question but have you looked at Clear Cure Goo for that. They have some videos up of how they build up a flat non 3d eye with the goo and it makes it the more expensive 3d type eye.

Yeah like that. Thanks for the link. I will have to try the dry fly sampler pack 10 of each size for a total of 60 hooks for 11 bucks sounds like a pretty good deal.

Probablyl just one size is all you ordered right? I want a variety pack of different sizes and I want a good number of hooks mabe 25 of each size something like that.

Where is the best place to buy hooks? I want to tie on barbless hooks but don't want to buy them in tiny packs that I pay a ton of money for. I would rather pay 20 bucks get a good assortment with a good range in sizes (I don't need gigantic hooks) and a good number in the pack.

Thanks Deeky, I will try to remember to make big water pushing flies. I hope to get out there with some good flies as soon as I can but probably wont be until next summer. I will post my progress as it goes.

That is what I thought too. I just don't understand some people that push there opinion out as fact. Just cause this guy doesn't like to fish on rivers and streams that must mean that it isn't possible. I don't beleive not for a second.

I want to know if anyone has every fished in Omaha, NE? I go to a club on thursday nights and they tell me they only place you can fly fish around Omaha is in still water lakes and ponds. I want to to do some river/stream fishing and don't know if what they are telling me is truly true. Are the rivers really to murky to fly fish? :bugeyes: Doesn't make a lot of sense to me fish still have to eat and I am sure they still eat bugs off the top and in the water. I have only fished twice and only once since moving to Omaha 6 months ago and it was in a private pond (caught 7 blue gill in less than 20 minutes).

How do you make an ear ring? I would like to see a step by step for that.
