oh yeah, who doesn't love a nice bass on a fly rod?!?!?! I'll tie up that oriole pattern I saw on your link....I like the other ones, but don't have all those supplies...and I've spent more than I should have lately on that stuff. I'll tie on a size 2 mustad 3366 I think it is... This will be fun. May 14 is plenty of time for me...The sooner the better...no procrastination!!!!!!!

I like the cork idea for popper bodies... what did you use to actually shape them then?

 

I used my Dremel to carve out and smooth the cupped face of the popper as well as smooth the surface of the whole cork. I used it to make the groove for the hook shank as well on one, but then I switched to just sawing this out with a leatherman because I liked the results a bit better.

hmmm looks like I'm gonna have to start collecting corks now. Thanks for the idea!

Polar, get yourself a nail polish bottle, Use the brush from that. You can even put the fusion in the bottle as well.

Yeah, I recently just got some Sallys hard as nails...I like it so far. I thought about getting a little bottle they sell for mixing your own epoxy with the little fine tip on it...but the fusion is so thick i thought for sure it would not work and be a waste of money...I normally use my bodkin for applying the fusion though and it has worked so far! I may try using the sally hard as nails bottle after it is empty though.

I would do one of those oriole flies if you hosted... a lot of the other patterns look cool, I just don't have the materials to do them...

I have the liquid fusion...I like it. Wish it had a small brush or smaller tip for applying it sometimes though... dries crystal clear and hard though. I buy mine at hobby lobby... I know feathercraft sells it, but it's a few bucks cheaper at the craft store... Think its about 6 bucks

I got a small bungie cord from the hardware store the other day...cheapest pack I could find...think it was a three pack of 10" ones....the inside is great for rubber legs or even backs of bass bugs... it's only white though...but it'll last you a while
