  1. Been at it for a few years, kids really like it. It did help me find a few new places to hunt and fish. People would post on their comments of things they saw and of course I just had to go check them out. :)

I use a Garmin 12, still going strong after all these years.

  2. Hoping someone here can give me a little history on a bamboo fly rod that was given to me. It was built by The Wright & McGill Rod Company in Denver Colorado. It was given to me by my father from a friend of the family who passed away some years ago. If I was to guess an age I would say somewhere in the 1950's.

  3. It'll be my first show. I dont have any friends or family that tie so I have taught myself. Im looking forward to seeing some of the tyers and products at the show.

I'd be more then willing to introduce myself to you guys at the show too. Put a face to the name!

    Ben

I was lucky, I had my Dad to show me the basics but things sure have changed from the 1940's when he started.

  4. I haven't in awhile because I'm not looking to buy anything. The last time I was there I about went into sticker shock at what they were charging for rods and reels. Back then I didn't have any place to buy tying materials so I would go to the show to pick stuff up. My only other option was to order stuff from Herter's (now I'm dating myself) but since Gander Mountain, Cabela's and Bass Pro have opened up I just go to one of those stores.

I should go though, I would like to pick up a few tips on tying with foam. This stuff is relatively new to me and I would like to learn more about using it.

  5. Depending on how good you are with a fishing rod...I used to carry a spinning rod with a long cork bobber and a treble hook...if I couldn't get to the bird I would cast past him and snatch him on the retrieve. A little break down rod and reel set up doesn't take up much room in the backpack...

Yea That.....had an old Eagle Claw backpacker rod that I used to use just for that. Eventually I got a dog and that all ended.

Learn to identify your ducks before you shoot.

Take your shotgun to the range and practice.

Be sneaky, my favorite wany to duck hunts was jump shooting farm and beaver ponds. Woodducks love beaver ponds surrounded by Oak trees.
