Planned to use a dyed brown rump feather for first shoulder and grizzly hen in front but tried a pheasant body feather first and liked how that turned out.

More fun downsizing some Atlantic salmon flies. Saw a version with dyed ring neck rump for the tail so I tried that here; think I like a red GP feather better.

Not enough variation between the sunburst and orange for a true W/G, although the overall effect is nice enough; more work at the dye bath required.

Tent Wing R/A Green Peter
Borrowed the winging idea from Chris Williams’ October Caddis; easier, for me, than matching hen pheasant wing segments.

Rabbit/hare’s ear - great in it’s natural state; easy to bleach, dye, bleach & dye
Acrylic yarn - cut into 3/4” pieces and run through a coffee grinder; almost any color you can think of, works as well on dries, wets, nymphs, streamers, etc
Ice Dub/FTD Starburst - lots of sparkle

58 minutes ago, DFoster said:These guys are a little portly because I added some .015 lead and a med wire rib. I prefer not to use split shot on my line if I can help it.
Coneheads work, too, and allow for a slim body profile, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Scott -
Claret Octopus (variation)
Viable fly or an exercise in seeing how much stuff I could fit on a hook? Even if it’s just the latter, it’s good practice in thread control and proportions.
