  1. John - I look forward to seeing that post; great timing now that the season is really getting under way.
  2. A carp in the teens on a 6-wt? Man, that's hard core! I've hooked several but have never managed to land one.
  3. I bought the full-sized version a couple of months ago; got a great deal on a new one from e-bay. Had I not seen the deal, I was set on the Jr. Great vises!
  4. Improved clinch knot for me; I always forget how to tie the turtle knot.
  5. I second crawfish patterns; drum seem to love these guys
  6. I'd say that saltwater is where I spend at least 75% of my time with the long rod, specifically in NY, NJ (LBI), and Florida (Keys and West Coast). I'll be expanding that territory to include ME in the next month. Maybe regional pattern sections would useful (i.e. Northeast, Mid-Atlantc, Keys/Carribbean, Gulf of Mexico, etc.). Please forgive me, but I find it more enjoyable to hunt fish in the salt than in the streams of our land, beautiful as the surroundings and fish are. But after all, I am a marine scientist. Not to knock freshwater fishing when there are smallies and pike involved...

    Digital Camera's

FWIW, I purchased a Canon Powershot A200 last Summer for the express purpose of photographing flies, and for that purpose it's worked pretty well. I recently inhereted a much better camera and don't have a use for the Canon anymore, but the features are conducive to your intended use. I'd sell the Canon on e-bay but I'd never make what I want for it! Good luck...
  8. Hello Everyone I've looked at a few posts on this forum in the past, but haven't yet posted anything myself. I've been a pretty active contributor to the Flyfishing Forum (Flytalk III) as Flyfisha1, and have benefited immensely from the experience of the members, many of whom are apparently members on this forum. So, here I am, get ready for the questions... Seriously, it's great to see forums such as this one and flytalk; it's quite often the case, in my experience, that so much more can be learned by asking a few questions than can be taken from a book. I'll thank all of you in advance for sharing your knowledge with me in the upcoming weeks, months, and years. Chris
