My garage is detached and not very well insulated. It tends to be damp in the winter. Might be better for summer squirrels. There seem to be several methods for this. With fear of getting ahead of myself, how do you harvest the fur for dubbing?

I am going to use it for popper tails. I tossed it in the freezer with salt on the meaty end. I will wash it after I defrost in a week or two. Thanks for all the info.

Thank you. I ended up taking the two ends and tying them to each side. The I cut the legs in half and then the ends that were connected. I am going to build up the body to get a larger spread of legs on the next batch I tie.

So, I am building a jig/crawfish on a #2 jig hook. I have two hackle off the back, an ice dubbing body, a rubber skirt and lead eye. I am wondering how to get the skirt to look like a jig. When I google it, I only get results for jigs or a few legs. I thing i should just fold the skirt in half and tie it. It should wrap around the hook body, but I am wanting to confirm before I jack something up.

I became a little distracted by deer season. It has gotten a bit cold down here, but I thought I would share a few of my flies. I have minimal materials, and I am looking to get the most bang for whatever bucks I spend. Any suggestions for bass and pan fish would be great. http://imgur.com/a/fYLxp

I fish the Missouri Ozarks for Bass and once in a while Trout. I have been known to fly fish catfish on occasion! I tie Woolly Buggers and Klouser Minnows for the most part, and I am interested in find some patterns and materials so that I can expand on my tying.

I have been fly fishing for a rather long time, and started to tie flies several years ago. I quickly became frustrated and stopped tying. Needless to say, I started tying again, and things are going much better this time. I tie mostly W. Buggers and K. Minnows and a few jigs here and there. I fish for Small Mouth and Pan fish in the occasional trout depending on the river.

My question is, without investing a lot cash on materials, what are some other flies I can create with the materials i have on had for Woolly buggers and Klouser Minnows? I have several colors of hackle, chenille, marabou and bucktail, as well as some odds and ends like peacock and a few feathers from a kit.
