Carambola 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Thx! Lost my mind when tying, that´s ´bout 3inches long, barely could tie it with my "tube-needle"...
Jon Boy 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Very nice tube Carambola Just one question You seem to be able to produce very small heads What type of tube are you using all the best john
Carambola 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Can´t remember the maker of it, but I tie tubes from 2 different sizes of tubes, the bigger 1 is ´bout 3/4 of the flys length, and the smaller that´s in it is from the visible part of the outer tube (that´s seen in the picture) to ´bout 1cm over it. U can easily put some lead on the smaller tube without having to make a fatter body. Plus I tie the throat just before the last part of the fox (black in this fly), keeps the head nice and small. I hope I made any sense with the explanation...
AlG 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Did you follow a pettern then? I need to get a few books and read up on them. For now, i just look at existing flies i've tied and try to duplicate that or from a regualr pattern book.

Books about the Svandinavian style of tube pattern in Englisjh language is not easy to get. But there is an English magazine which often bring tube flies pattern www.flyfishing-and-flytying.co.uk Jens

Carambola 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 Jon boy, here´s how it´s done, pic might explain more than my explanation... In the pic u can see that there´s 2 different size tubes, and where the bigger1 ends is sum lead to sink the fly under the surface..
