SALMONATOR 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I'll hit the hotel durring steelhead season sometimes. I guess I'd usually rather have a room than do the truck thing (been there and done that and I'm just a bit too tall for the back of my cherokee). Once the night time temps rise to above freezing it's tent time though. I usually try to avoid the camp-grounds too. Here's a pic of a place I camped alot of times last summer on the banks of the Manistee river. This was taken from right in front of the tent, and It's only about a mile and a half of two tracks off the main (dirt) road, and it's free with a DNR pass. I speant a week and a half here one time (just me and my dog and a bunch of beer) last summer during the hex hatch and rarely saw another soul (maybe a canoe or two every couple of days). Why the hell would I want to spend the night in a hotel? Al
