Hatchet Jack 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2015 Many times my reel seat lock nuts would constantly loosen up whilst fishing and make the fly reel wobble about. Not just on one rod, all of them. I sat down and pondered the situation. Far as I knew, nothing was 'wrong' per se with any of the reel seats. No horrendous mis-match of reel seat O.D.'s and the radius/concave side of reel seat foot. What to do ? I found that by simply cleaning off the reel seat & lock nuts & threads with DNA, and spraying on a tiny amount of Tri-Flow Teflon lube, wiping up the excess, running the lock nuts up & down a few times...well, voilà, Bob's your Uncle. No more loosening up on the lock nuts. Pure magic, what a little lube will do for ya. Give it a try if your nuts loosen up.
Capt Bob LeMay 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2015 One additional "fix" for a reel that doesn't want to mate up with whatever reelseat you're using is a small piece of masking tape draped over each end of the reel foot before locking everything into place (this works particularly well with old reelseats...).
