  1. I'm just starting to get into tying tube flies, and I'm curious what any of you use for the actual tubing. I know you can buy tubing at fly shops, but I've heard some people use ear swabs, etc as a substitute. What works for you? Also, who do you think some of the best online suppliers are for tubing? Thanks. Stew
  2. Thanks guys. Appreciate all the feedback. Stew
  3. Thanks Carl. Nice looking pattern and I'll definitely try it. You're correct, the Grand Hopper uses 4mm foam. I'm very confident I can tie this pattern. I'm more curious how you affix the body so you get the right "look". Obviously, there's a slit cut on the underside to position the body, but how long should that slit be, and where should it be made?
  4. Does anyone have the tying instructions for a Rainy's Grand Hopper? I have all of the materials but would like to know the step by step. Haven't been able to come up with anything on Google. Thanks. Stew
  5. Thanks guys. Appreciate it.
  6. Seems like most of the time I tie in a wingcase using turkey tail or pheasant tail it splits. This despite coating the material with flex seal. What's the secret? Should it be applied thin or thick? Would appreciate everyone's response. Stew
