Thanks for the welcome! D. Flogger, your comment brings back memories of years past. I was stationed North of Tokyo and went fishing up in the mountain streams. We rented fishing gear from the locals. It was not much, a ten foot cane pole with line and a hook on it. Not true fly fishing but close. We bought live bait, such as bugs and minows. We had a group of GI's and we caught many rainbow trout. The one thing that stands out is that I caught a golden trout. The local Jap was so happy for me saying that I was very lucky. I didn't even know there was such a trout. This all happened back in 1966. Further research told me that the golden was not native to Japan. I believe they originated somewhere in Colorado so they had to be relocated to Japan. I saw a big rainbow caught out of a space of water that was only about 2 feet wide. The other memory of that was that the wives of the GI's cooked up the fish, some deep fried and some baked. They tasted just great....
