  1. I find dries challenging too, certainly more of a challenge than nymphs. Good luck.

    Tom

I hear ya on that! I enjoy tying nymphs all day long! And thanks for the advice everyone. I finally tied two Royal Wulff's I was happy with. I may try some elk caddis and try some easier dry flies this weekend. Is the Orvis brand hackle good stuff? Cause that's the hackle I have right now and it is the hackle the local fly shop carries.

  2. I'll be tying a weave style bead head nymph.

I was think of doing something similar :hyst: Hope you don't mind.

Don't mind at all. I'll go ahead and pick some colors and you can just figure out what colors and style you want to do. I'm going to do the lower abdomen top color green and the bottom color brown, the upper body will be peacock herl and the head will be gold. Fine by you?

Not a problem, I was going to tie a Woven Wire Weevil

Mine will be on a 2x long dry fly hook and the weave will be done from embroidery thread, so they will be different :yahoo:

  4. Never hosted a swap and was wondering if anyone else was wanting to have a swap for a warmwater or coldwater small creek fishing. I have two small creeks close by, one warmwater fish and the other has small trout. I tie up a size 12 fly that works for me and was interested in having a swap for this but would need someone else to host it. Let me know what you think.

  5. Been working on the Cajun Tickler for a little while now and just tied this one up. Used natural colors like brown hackle for the tail, brown top and dark green bottom for the embroidery thread lower body, peacock herl upper body with black sili legs, and a brown brass bead for the head all on a size 8 hook. I finally got the sili legs proportionate and even (which can be a pain) and got a good tapered the body. Can't wait to try it out.

Still working on them and there are little variations in each. Going to test them out to see what the fish like more. Any Critiques much appreciated!

Also a few other flies I've been tying lately.

Thanks HS for putting this contest together. A couple firsts for me, first contest I've participated on the forum in, first Nymph and Caddis I've really ever tied (I tie more for bass and bluegill). Thanks a ton and really enjoyed.
