  1. ???????? :dunno:

I'm sure I'm reading this wrong, but you're gonna send who their flies back? I was just ranting about the fact that swaps never go off like they're supposed to and people get shorted flies. I hope you didn't take it that I wanted my flies back....

  2. Thanks for hosting this one Matt, but I've gotta say I haven't had the best luck on swaps lately. I know things come up and I know life sometimes does weird things, but I haven't been in one yet where people didn't just disappear at the end or maybe the box got lost someplace. I tie a specific number of flies and I ship them on time no matter what, I expect that many back. People are abusing the system, period.

I'm ranting , but this is really not encouraging me to do any more swaps. :wallbash:

  3. Trying to learn to use a dubbing loop with Rabbit hair clipped from the hide for Murrays madtoms....

I think I could get it if I could get the $*^%@*( &^%((*@!!! to stay in the &%#!! loop!

I did drop 20$ and buy the MP twister though, gonna see if that helps any?

  4. I could tell you all to go buy the book, but......

    The two biggest things are..

    1. The eyes should be tied in at a MINIMUM of 1/3 the length back on the hook shank. 1/2 or more back is not too far depending on the hook / weight / action desired.

    2. The way we are tying in the head. Most, if not all of us (myself included!) are tying to large/bulky of a head and are wrapping too close to the dumbell eyes on both sides but especially the front.

The guy giving the class is pretty much strictly a Smallmouth guy and admitted that he himself had tied hundreds incorrectly before spending a little time with Bob at a show and picking up his book. I know most of us will say "Theres no way to really tie a fly wrong, it's all in the tyers style and interpretation (sp?) of the fly." I agree for the most part, but the reasons why it's tied the way it is with the weight where it is and the wraps the way they are really do affect the action.

If you're a fan of Clousers flies or a dedicated Smallmouth fisherperson (pc ya know..lol)...

    GET THIS BOOK!

  5. Went to a tying class Sat at the L.F.S. where we did Clousers and discussed the new book Bob Clousers got out with directions and comments on 17 of his patterns.

SOMEBODY...was giving me a hard time about following Chris Helm around all day like a schoolgirl with a crush. That SOMEBODY gets a picture with him!!!!! :ripped:

There is no justice, especially after I dropped $60 at his booth.

A good time was had by all and I got to meet a lot of people and get some good info on local waters. Will and Will did a great job and I think we're now planning on ways to make it better.
