  1. ok thanks. I will probably take a trip to the local fly shop then.
  2. I seen that video. The Cabela's stuff I got is blood quill marabou and looks like it's the same brand as what is shown in that video. Still looks nothing like what is shown in those 2 images I posted. Maybe just the batches vary or the brands on where they get their feathers from?
  3. I just started fly tying and I'm tying flies from the bottom and working my way up, but before I considered a fly lesson complete, I want to tie a perfect one for a collectors piece that I won't use for fishing. I need your opinions on what I could do better on this fly. I'm thinking a slightly shorter tail and do a better job on the wire wraps. I should have paid more attention on the angles of the hackle and wire when I wrapped this fly, but I will do on the next attempt. Would a different color wire look better? Maybe a little fatter by adding lead wire to the body Or maybe I should use a different hook size?
  4. Where can I find this Marabou or what type is this? I got some from 3 different places. 1 has no life to it and takes about 8 feathers to make a big tail. (Ebay Skin Patch) 2 is straight with no fluff to it and has a damage strip in the middle of the sweet spot.. (Cabela's strung) 3 is too short and too fluffy and has not much fluff control.. (WB Marabou Hareline) What I need and I am looking for is what you see in these pictures attached. Is there a special name for this type or a special brand?
  5. What kind of marabou is this? I have got 2 different packs so far and I either get straight and stiff or super light and fluffy.. I need this marabou to tie a woolly bugger. Is there a specific type of name for this?
  6. I just started Fly Tying this month and I figured this would be a good place to hang out. I don't get to fish as much as I would like to and fly tying gives me something to do when I can't get out on the water. I'm into tying for the art of it. Starting from the bottom and working my way up. So far I'm working on tying the best woolly worm I can and then progressing up to the woolly bugger and some day Salmon Flies. I also like to buy, sell and trade. Tying on a budget, so every dollar counts.
