  1. I do not know. I have bought Sage RPL #6 last year, for this year I am planning to buy Orvis Superfine #4. However, I am building my house so there is not plenty money left... Besides that, my occupation (firefighter) is not very well payed sad.gif

  2. Well you have already figured out some things, so I will just shortly say what have I noticed during my fishing years.

I use with and without barb. I always tie fly on barbed hook, and then debarb it on the water if i want to. I usualy do not debarb hooks made of thin wire.

Barbless hooks are much more friendly to use for both, fish and fisherman. You can release fish easily and faster, and it does not damaged its mouth tissue as much as barbed hook does. On the other side, if you "catch" yourself, it is no problem to get out barbless hook by yourself.

Last years I usually fish only barbless hooks - nymphs, dries and streamers - and there is absolutly no difference in loosing fish!

And as someone has alreday written down, barbless hook penetrates easily and you can hook up fish easily. Specialy large trouts, salmons (in my case europe salmon-hucho hucho), pikes etc.

    Tight lines!

  3. Well, I have used a lot of Mustad hooks and I was not completley satisfied.

The biggest problem is corrosion and too big barb.

However, there is one model that I use very often. I do not know the exact type, since I am not at home, I will chet during the weekend, but it is special hook for saltwater, aberdeen type. It is very very sharp, has a little barb so it penetrates easily. Perhaps it is too thin, but no fish has straightened it yet...

    I strongly recomend it! biggrin.gif

  4. I fish sometimes on little lakes for rainbows, carp, chub and somtimes pike.

I mostly use Sage GFL #6 RPL and DT5F line. But what kind of fly do I tie on depends of the species I want to catch. For trout and chub my favourites are brown wooly bugger on hook nr. 2-10, and damsel nymphs. For carp I use mostly glo bug, and for pike different streamers, like scuplins and leech patterns tied from zonker strips...

  5. Well, thank you all!

I do not think there is a mayor difference between patterns used in our and your country. It looks like all things have "globalized" biggrin.gif

However, I like to tie very much, and I will try to photo some of my favourite patterns and post them. But I do not know when this will be, since I'm very busy lately. sad.gif

  6. Well, I found this site, surfing on the internet. I am a great flyfishing maniac, I come from Slovenia - Europe.

I mostly fish for grayling, brown trouts and rainbows, but also for europe salmon (hucho hucho) chub, carp and pike.

Here is the biggest rainbow from last season.

Sory for bad language. Best wishes!
