fishnbear 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2006 Wow great site,so much information.I'm researching my first ever fly vise and could use some help.Ill be tying mostly saltwater flies and eventually epoxy flies and bass bugs(almost no trout flies).I've got a budget around $200 give or take either way.I'd rather buy a quality vise now and not have to trade up down the road. Some of the vises I'm looking closely at are the Regal,Renzetti Salt cam,DK jr Trekker,HMH Spartan.I guess I'm wondering,is true rotary really necessary for most salt tying or does this just become a personal preference thing?I've spoken to some guys that say the non-adjutable arm angle on some true rotarys can be limiting when applying epoxy?I've taken a couple classes where we tied simple flies on a Renzetti Traveler and the vise seemed fine to me given that I really have no base for comparison. If you tie saltwater flies and epoxy flies in particular I'd be interested to hear what vises you've used and liked or disliked. Thanks in advance for any help
