Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Hi SuperRich, A tube fly is tied on a plastic or metal tube, the leader is slipped through the tube, and a hook is tied to the end of the leader. One of the reasons I like tube flies is I can fish a large fly and use a smaller hook. Then if I hook a juvenile fish the small hook is less prone to injure/kill it. A size #2 or #4 hook often kills smaller fish. I often fish tube flies equal in length to a size #2 hook but use a #10 hook on the leader. Take care & ...
