Moxie 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 I've never seen a nymph like this before: http://cgi.ebay.com/Slime-Flexi-Nymphs-Tro...1QQcmdZViewItem I really want to tie some of these, just wondering if anyone knows the name of this nymph or the "style" its tied in. I would also love to get the recipe for this and maybe a materials list. I noticed the green dubbing of course, but the mid section looks like rubber but not sure what type and that looks like goose biots on the sides. But I need a little more help. Thanks!! flytire 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2006 Since they are called "Slime Flexi Nymphs " on the ebay page, I'll go with this recipe Hook: Hayabusa 387 Tails: chartreuse span flex Body: black span flex Rib: charteuse span flex Wing buds: orange biots Thorax: green dubbing Legs: charteuse span flex It is also stated on the ebay page "These are tied with proper Spanflex and not crappy flexi floss which splits & curls and are tied on Hayabusa 387 Heavyweight Grub hooks for a good curved profile. Pintsize 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Spanflex is made by Wapsi, another name for it is flexi-floss.
verminous_titan 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 The flies are tied by Ian Christie. www.flybox.co.uk. Waspi spanflex is the best flexi floss to use, Pintsize is dead right and as flytire said the other materials split and badly curl, not so much a problem for these flies but for others which require straight legs this material can cause issues, best to stick with the waspi material.
