As I said we started this site 4 yrs ago and made it a place were Will's goal was to (and in his own words) "Be like a bunch of guys sitting around the garage just talking back&forth". Now that worked for the first year but as we grew then we had to obviously tone it down some to not offend 10,000 members. Because anytime you have 10,000 members your never gonna have everyone agree on something. With that said though, like my previous reply...we never have been nor will be conformed to a strick PC code here on FTF or TFF. That's not what we like and if someone wants that type of site then there's hundreds of sites that are 100% PC out there for them. A post with girls in bikini's has nothing wrong with it at all. Guest Report post Posted August 27, 2007 The Lodge has been a forum somewhat outside the "rules" from day one. The lodge has nothing to do with fly fishing or fly tying and it is specifically for off topic conversations. FTF from day one has allowed more "freedom" than the majority of fly fishing sites out there, that is one reason for this site's success and those principals will never change. Nothing like this would ever be posted outside the lodge so if you don't like these type of topics then stay out of the lodge. It is really that easy. I always felt the reason this site was a success was due to a more mature , educated group of people who enjoy flyfishing /flytying. Guest Report post Posted August 28, 2007 I have learned a long, long time ago that when you get this many people together somebody is always going to get offended no matter what was said. Most sites go crazy with rules and end up at a point where every word is scrutinized. Well, that will never happen here. I would rather turn the switch off on this site then have so many rules people are afraid to post. It has always been that way, nothing has changed. People either enjoy the freedom, ignore the things they don't agree with or they they leave the site never to return. What else can I do? The only remote chance that something "profane" will be posted is in the lodge, I would think that people could easily ignore that forum if they disagree with its content. Do I think this topic was obscene? No, not really. It is a joke and should be taken as such. There are some women in bikinis and nothing about the photos are sexual in nature. Now showing alot more is nothin'. Sorry for making this such a big deal , I'm not one to hold a grudge so lets just end this! I have infarct looked all replies over carefully and at time I do believe that those of us that are older and wiser need to intervene in these matters and correct the younger generations perspective on the world. I find that after carefull consideration that all of this thread is beyond my understanding and reflects bad judgment. While this post is what one might call,a bit "off-color",but in this day and age,there is no real way you could call this obscene,offensive,or demeaning. Flygirl,I find your response to this a bit surprising......Didn't it become obvious to you what caliber of man you were hanging around here with,when you got the 29 or so replies to your "What Friends are For" post of about a month ago? I gotta tell ya' I was IMPRESSED with this crew,reaching out to you the way they did!! While there are some people,men and women alike who will be truly offended by this type of content,you must remember that these,and other similar photographs exist because they appeal to a pretty large segment of the population,who view them as nothing more than they were intended...if this was not true,men would not spend the money to stage and produce them....and women would not contiunue to be paid to pose for them! Either way, it's been fun. flygirl what Will was refering to is the fact that EVERYONE that has been here for more than 1 day knows that the "Lodge" is a fourm on the site that as stated in the discription, is for off topic non tying/fishing releted posts. And everyone knows that some of the posts are and will be something that not all will agree with. So when Will says if you dont like it dont read it...he's not talking about this one imperticuliar post, he's talking about the forum the "Lodge". Secondly- it's a shame that you feel this is a reason for you to leave the site, but honestly, if your offended enough to leave the site because of a pic of a girl in a bikini then maybe it's for the best. Because heaven forbid something really controversial got posted, you would probably have a stroke over it. Point is this is nothing more than girls in bikini's. You see that at the beach, pool, on TV, in magazines (even women mags like cosmo and such) on billboards...pretty much everywhere. They are not naked they are not doing sex acts that are not doing anything besides holding a fish in a bikini. Nothing more nothing less. We have worked very hard here for 4 yrs now to give you guys freedom within reason, and we stated that from day one. And nothing is going to change that, ever. If something like porn or other blatantly offensive material gets posted (and it does but you guys dont even know it 99% of the time because myself and the other mods are always right on top of it before you even get a chance to see it) then that's different. But when the day comes where someone feels they cant post a joke post with a couple girls in bikinis on this website then that's the day I hand my admin pass over to Will and shut my computer off. Because if it ever gets to that point then I would be to afraid to even make a post because I wouldnt know if someone was gonna take offense at some little word I used or pic I posted. I could go on about this but I really feel like I'm wasting my time even having to deffend a member that made a simple joke post with a couple girls in bikinis. So all I'll say to end it is this- If your the type of person that is easily offended by little things then it's probably best to stay out of the Lodge section of the site. If all you want to do is read about fly tying then every other foum on here is about that and you wont have to worry about seeing anything non-tying related in the other forums. On the other hand if you like to shoot the BS with the other guys and like to see some jokes and other non tying stuff then enjoy the Lodge, that's why its here.
