Fly~Junkie 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2007 KEVIN, Great looking Czech Nymphs you've been tying there... Been restocking my Boxes with them as well lately... Hot Pink versions have been Red Hot on the Kern River here in California lately.. You oughta check out the Skalka brand Czech Nymph hooks as well... they are Extremely sharp, just like the Knapek Brand....
KevCompton 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Hi rookstorm, Most often I use Magic Shrimp Foil -- latex strips (available in 2 widths). The Czechs themselves originally used surgical latex gloves. The foil strips are more convenient, however, and come in several colors and pearl foils. ************* Hi Fly-Junkie, Yes the Skalkas are nice -- nice long spears and sharp points. They're also available in size #18s which are typically unavailable from Knapek. They also have longer shanks than the Knapeks designs. The question, once again though, is availability -- the bleak reality is that the US Dollar is tanking against the Euro. What kind of pink materials/dubbings are you using? Thanks, Kevin
Chad Trout 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Fly Junkie, Here is a Czech using the Skalka Hook. skalka czech They are great hooks, but as Kevin stated with the American Dollar tanking, the price of the Skalkas are going thru the roof and the availabilty is somewhat bleek for the Skalkas. Harold Ray 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 with the American Dollar tanking, the price of the Skalkas are going thru the roof The dollar won't always be down. Some of the Europeans are laughing now, but when something bad happens, guess who the rest of the world will be calling!
