Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 Great looking squid, I didnt see or read in the materials list any flash material. Do you think flash is neccessary?
Ridleyffo 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2009 I forgot to put the flash in the recipe. It is such a heavily dressed fly that I don't think the flash will make much difference as far as attraction. It is very important to reverse tie the bucktail in as in essently makes a cone over the hook bend and point which builds the back bulk but also keeps all that saddle hackle hackle from fouling. I think that the saltwater krystal I use also adds a little "structure" to keep the fly from fouling.
