Guest Report post Posted October 27, 2003 For my upcoming Steelhead trip next weekend I sat down for a few hours and tied up some flies that I'll be taking with me. I'll be tying up a few more different patterns this week. Anybody else get a chance to tie up anything???
Guest Report post Posted October 27, 2003 damn good looking steelie flies, what are the two in the bottom left corner ? I tied up some cicada patterns this weekend, from the new harrison steeves book. I have never had a book that made me want to copy almost every pattern in the book, but this one does. Guest Report post Posted October 27, 2003 The two on the bottom left and the one on the top left are all "Spring Wigglers", but I didn't have the right type of hook I went to the fly shop to get some and this was the only type of hook that is similar, I needed a hook with a turned down eye and all they had were straight eyes. They also only had size #4 and that is probably too big.
Guest Report post Posted October 27, 2003 good looking flies, i dont think the hook eye will make muchof a difference. I have seen where it would matter on a dry fly, but should too much on a wet fly. john
Guest Report post Posted October 27, 2003 Smallie is right the hook should be a 1 or 2 X strong wet fly hood with a turned down Eye. The Spring's Wiggler is a Michigan fly stable for Steelhead and Salmon fishing the compleat menu and tying instructions are at http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/fly_pict...ing_wiggler.htm Good Luck OSD. Guest Report post Posted October 28, 2003 John, Which swap was that for? I'm still trying to find enough time to finish the Tom Nixon flies (Parmacheene Bass) for my own swap...too much writing to do this month!! Mark Delaney
Guest Report post Posted October 28, 2003 Pretty nice, Will Make sure to bring something olive. One friend of mine will fish nothing but. He may change the color of the egg pattern in front of it, but the main fly is always something olive. Buggers, sparrows, wigglers... Good Luck on the Elk QUOTE Anybody else get a chance to tie up anything??? Yeah, another deer to the rafters in my garage...lol
