JarrodRuggles 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2004 Hey, someone know of a tutorial for salmon flies?
Guest Report post Posted November 7, 2004 Try Fly Anglers Online and Salmonfly.net, there are also many good books on the subject. Dick Talleur's "Pretty and Practical Salmon Flies" is a very good starter book.
CapeBSalar 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2004 Hi Jarrod I hope Mr. Ron Lucas Sr. doesn't mind but I'm plugging his tutorials at flyanglersonline.com the direct link to his Salmon fly information pages is below. I find this information truely invaluable and hope it helps you also. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/atlantic/index.html Regards, CapeBSalar
Hywel 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2004 Double Ditto on Ronn Lucas's links!! Jorgensen's "Salmon Flies..." is a nice tutorial. Pryce-Tannatt's book is a must-have if you get very serious about dressing Salmon flies, too. Talleur's book? Well, "Practical" for sure, IMO. Some of the best flies in that publication were dressed by Per Stadigh. Hywel
Salmon_Falls_Fly_Tier 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2004 I agree, the tutorials there are pretty sweet. Also, try Poul Jorgenson's books. Aaron
Guest Report post Posted November 7, 2004 Yup, all good info. I started dabbling with Jorgenson's book. But was Ronn himself (not his tutorials) that pushed me to keep doing them. He's a great resource, and and even better person to talk with.
