Well, I only started fly fishing 3 years ago, tying two years ago, and fishing with wets this past summer in Ontario, but I'm in love with them already.

Anybody need three boxes of dries and nymphs ?

(Probably not the first time a member of FTF has asked that question !!)

Daryn...

What part do you think I'm kidding about ???

I'm 62, and 41 seems like an ancient memory to me, sort of like charcoal painting of wooly mammoths on cave walls.....

My daughters are 30'ish and I still call them "kids".

Daryn- it's becoming difficult to understand the tenor and tone of your "humour" or its relevancy to others' replies.

That is all.

Here's a pic of my fly for this swap.

It's a fly I've been working on this year trying to find a good combination of materials. If anyone wants to suggest improvements once they have seen it, please feel free.

I've never seen one quite like it, so I just call it GRPT Winged Wet.

Brookies seem to like it alot, especially earlier in the year.

Recipe as follows:

Hook: #10 Mustad Wet Nymph

Thread: 6/0 Black

Tail & Abdomen: Pheasant tail, wound

Rib: 28 Guage gold wire, counter-wound

Thorax: Red tint peacock herl

Wing: Natual fox squirrel tail fibers

Hackle: One turn of grouse feather

It aint about the length, the weight,or the age of the rod that matters. It is the way it handles the backcast !

I have been tying for almost 4 decades and I have friends that refer to me as the Kid. I think it is cool as hell. It just means I will have more time on the water or the bench to perfect what I have learned from them. In the same vein it tickles me every time I teach a " Rookie" something that they will use and expand on over his/her lifetime . It's ALL good!

Well said, Tube

Love that squirrel. I use it as often as I can. I just scored some pine (thanks to GC) and a buddy brought me some that that started to infiltrate his attic) and can't wait to tie with it.

Nice tie, Fred!!!!

I sure like my wets. wink.gif I fish them behind weighted nymphs. (18") Don't give them away just yet. cool.gif
