Harold Ray 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2013 Since there are generally many posts on tying deer hair and always a lot of interest in tied deer hair flies for fishing and at shows, I thought I would post a like to Mike George's site, http://www.deerhairsculptures.com/Mustad-Award-Winning-Patterns.html. Mike has a new CD that shows and explains his methods and ways of packing deer hair on a hook, to the point that he has won the Mustad International 9 times in his category out of the last 11 years; the other 2 years he won silvers, or 2nd place, in their world competition. Some people are good at tying deer hair, Mike George is great. I have the good fortune of getting to see him tie often in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where he, John Maddox, I and maybe 75 to 100 other tiers get to tie for the FFF Southern Council's October Conclave, http://www.southerncouncilfff.org/, and the March Sowbug Round-Up, http://www.northarkansasflyfisher.org/sowbug_roundup.html. Mike is usually there with people flocking in to watch him tie. Ray
