FlyFishin Fool 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2013 Made this for my dad for Christmas. Hobby lobby has the cheap wood boxes and I Stainded it. Cork for the base and put my flies in it. Added an extended bodies fly at the bottom. Really tied it together.

mooxe 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2014 I did the same thing for my Dad to actually. Instead of using cork I glued them sideways to the matting. I did a lot of research into how to best mount them... I chose glue as it was pretty easy and the end result was good. Some of the hackle got a bit squished from the the flies laying on the side though. One of the methods I seen was using fishing line to tie them down to the matting with tiny spacers between the fly and matting to raise them up a bit. Henrik Thomsen (DK) 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2014 I use tubes intended for tube flies. Then set the hook into the tube forsmall sizes, or use thread loop through the tube for larger hooks. That way no hackles get squished. Henrik
