  1. several years ago I was learning to tie and I came home from a local class where each week we bought materials for and learned to tie a few flies. I transported my stuff back and forth in a plastic tool box. When I got home each night my black lab usually just greeted me normally. Then I arrived with a Golden Pheasant carcass. You should have seen the reaction! I never saw his eyes so wide open or him pay so much attention to anything. He was just a house dog, never hunted but I guess that stuff's in the genes.
  2. I use the double edge safety blades but I cut them in half, at opposite corners of the dull part at the top and bottom, leaving kind of an "L" shape. The bottom of the L i put in an exacto knife holder. I find that the tip away from the handle is very flexible and it's useful for fine trimming, while the blade nearer the handle is solid and great for the first cuts. Thanks for the tips on the bulk purchasing.
