bullet head cicada (madam X)

Recommended Posts

I think I found the design i am going to stick with........for now........bear with me, I don't have a working digital camera(probably just as well....I'm all thumbs). I tied it in the fashion of a "madam X". I first tied in a black deer hair tail, then an orange deer hair wing/head(bullet style)not pulled back yet though, black chenille body wrapped forward from the tail to the base of where my head will be tied off, then 6-8 strands of crystal flash as an underwing. I then pulled back my orange deerhair wing/head and tied it off. tied in orange elastic legs at the base of the head (like the madam X) and then went back w/a black marker and colored the orange deerhair head black leaving orange "eyes" on the side of the head.

I believe the original madam x called for fur dubbing as an underbody, but i had a surplus of balck chenille so i have been using that during my experimentation.

sounds very interesting, Mike...I would love to see a pic..if you get a camera going...e-mail me! Hope you can hit the hatch with Will and myself sometime this summer! No sense in leaving you out of the fun with you being close enough to join us on occasion!
