  1. I like to tie a tube fly with synthetic fiber in red and white and green and yellow. I attach a large treble tied onto braid or steal wire onto the front section. I will post pictures and better directions.
  2. Wow great looking fly. Hooks look great too!
  3. Wow, I feel stupid. That improved things a lot. Thanks. You have amazing poppers by the way - really impressive!
  4. Does anyone's Danvise have a really sticky jaw release knob? One of my vises broke so I picked one up - never used one before and the hook is ridiculously hard to get out. Also, even when the the jaw knob is fully tightened (and impossible to release) the hook moves around in the vise. Maybe someone has some tips for me.

  6. Thanks guys! I just bought 100 VMC 3/0 wide gap fish hooks for $14.95!!! Never heard of the company but they were about $40.00 less than 3/0 Gamakatsu. Can't be that bad right? They are new so there sharp! :headbang: Anyone ever use VMC hooks?
  7. Hi guys, Hoping that someone will know of a good source for mustad hooks - I am actually looking for wide gap 4/0 or 5/0 for spinning fishing. I know their is lots of good knowledge on here, so I appreciate any help. Thanks,
  8. It has been more than 3 weeks since I have gotten an e-mail response! Anyone heard from him lately? This is getting slightly crazy
  9. Too bad I missed this swap. I have some great poppers and would have loved to see what everyone else has been tying. Any ideas on another popper swap date?
  10. Depending on how big my winnings were... I would buy/build a cabin in both Patagonia and Kamchatka and fly back and forth on my personal jet between the two.
  11. I agree. There are many and good reasons for spending more money on a rod - to an extent. Albright is misleading customers - not good business!!!
  12. I don't think they are going to improve business by going about things as they are. I agree with Steve about the psychological marketing behind companies like Orvis and Sage. However, the thing is these companies have been around for a long time and have built up a name associated with quality and, therefore, can charge the rather absurd prices they do. Albright on the other hand doesn't really have quality products. As Steve said their products are the exact same as they used to be - most/all of which are imported from China. In my case it was obviously a manufacturers error where they scored the blank and then cracked it when putting in a plastic ferrule connector - they then covered it up with thread wraps and sold it on the website. That is the thing with a company based entirely online - you can't see or test the rods and are really likely to get a lemon (as I did). I would say that Albright has lost a TON of business!
  13. The jaws on my old terra vise just broke. Does anyone in Ontario (or NE US) have a vise they wouldn't mind selling?
  14. Hi everyone, A few of weeks ago I placed an order at FTD. Having been my first order from the site I had no idea that an order of over $190 qualified me for the dealer discount (25% off). I e-mailed the mad scientist directly and he refunded my paypal transaction and said he would calculate my discount and e-mail me back on Monday - which was 3 Monday's ago! I have tried e-mailing him to ask how my order is coming along and nothing in return. I really would appreciate a reply so I can re-send the funds and get my order. Can't wait to tie some bass and pike flies with my 39 colour congo hair set! Is this normal? Does he reply to e-mails? It just seems un-businesslike.
  15. I told them that the card that comes with the A-5 says "Lifetime Warranty" and that is misleading customers into assuming they have a warranty on their product. They said, "Those cards are old and outdated, they should be torn up, technically that company is closed and the new entity is Albright Direct". Funny thing is I bought the rod only 8 months ago, so...They aren't THAT outdated
