dronlee 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Hi 176319, This is the original Tacklebox Split Tail by the creator - Nick Ooi of Tacklebox Adventure. My version was just a variation from his original pattern.... this pattern is also a imitation to our snakehead fry... Not sure why the Hampala ( Sebarau ) like it in orange or red... but we believe it's their nature as both species ( Snakehead and Hampala ) attack their fries and we believe that might be the reason behind why this pattern is popular in red and orange.. or it's also possible that the split tail designed by Nick have good action in water... Tacklebox Split Tail is a proven pattern specially for the hampala in Malaysia...
dronlee 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 This is one of the picture that I can find... Nick Ooi with his Sebarau... To fish with this pattern... especially using Tacklebox Split Tail, it's adviseable to use sinking lines, let the fly sink to the desire depth or where the fish is... then do your FAST and FURIOUS strips.... as fast as you can...!!! Cheers.... tie some up and try it... not sure what you can get in your water, but it's a must to have in Malaysia for Sebarau ( Hampala )
