Goin home to Ohio in September, Bass Fly advice?

Recommended Posts

Hello Again,

My wife and I are traveling home to Ohio from Hawaii for a visit with family. What basic bass flies do you recommend I tie up before heading home? I'm assuming some popper?

You'll be able to use any of those flies you tie for bonefish. Bass will take anything that looks alive, and shrimp, crayfish and bait fish patterns all get eaten.

Topwater is fun, but is limited to mornings and evenings on super hot summer days. You can expect temps in the 90s, as they are right now. I fish foam poppers and catch a fair share, but the big ones will stay in ambush points during the heat of the day. A sinking fly is more likely to get attention from those sitting in deeper points.
