  2. I just got back from a fly tying camp and my peers there caught bluegills and bass on a variety of flies made of pheasant. I learned to tie a carry special while at camp which i just posted step by step instructions for on the fly tying database. charlie

  4. I dont have a fly tying desk but i have a lot of tables throughout my house which i use depending where i feel like sitting but none face out a window but 2 face the tv which is good for me because i concentrate better with the tv on. charlie
  5. I have a Renzetti Presentation 2000 cam vise. it has 3 or 4 joints where you can move the angles of the vise. Also it roatates. I use wasatch tools only. I have used other tools which are awesome like Dr. Slick and wapsi but i just prefer Wasatch tools thats just my taste. I know these are not kits but are my favorites. wasatch does have a tool set of all their tools you can buy. Also Dr. Slick has some kits with scissors, and basic tools like that. I hope this will help you make the tuff deciesion about tools and vises. Charlie

  9. Hi, I just recently returned from a Fly Fishing Academy where i was taught to tie a Pheasant Tail Nymph. Here is one that i tied a couple days ago.   12. hey Is a bluegill fly a freshwater or saltwater fly? also what can you catch with it? And also where can/should be fished? Thank you Charlie P.S I have never seen a Bluegill fly but from what i can tell it is a cool looking fly
  13. I caught a shark, it was out in the puget sound while trolling. It was only about 14 to 17 inches long. Charlie

  15. Hey Im kind of new to tying as well. I started around a year and a half ago. Do you yet have a vise or tools/ materials? if not i would suggest getting a wapsi beginners kit. It includes a vise, a book to on how to tie certain flies and tools/ materials you need to tie thoose flies. this is the kit that i started with and was a lot of help. also i would go talk to the owners of a local fly fishing store near you. I hope this a least a little bit of help Charlie

  19. I don't usually tie quill body flies but I usually put head cement on the heads of any of my flies. Charlie

  21. Thanks Dart I will go buy some deer and calf body hair and take a look at the whiting 100 packs of hackle. I will also use your guidance and try deer body hair tied further up the shank of the hook. Thank you for all your help Charlie
  22. HI My name is Charlie. I am new to both this forum and basically new to tying. I started about a year ago. Jeff said he was using moose main is it ok to use deer body hair. Also for this kind of fly is it better to use darker hair or lighter. I have been using a beige colored hair. Another thing what kind of hackle is advisable to use i have been using brown hackle with white kip tail for the wings Charlie
