The ones that work around this area of Colorado are Green, Red, and Regular Copper Johns.

I use either 3 - 1 or 4 - 1 on my cement to thinner ratio. I think it depends on how long you have let the cement thicken. I tie commerical and it works fine. Just don't make it too runny. Add a little then add a little more until you get the right consistency for your needs. Different strokes for different folks.
